Welcome to the APIW 2011-2012 year.  Although September traditionally marks the beginning of a new year for the APIW and its formal educational and networking events, the Board has been busy throughout the summer finalizing what we anticipate to be a robust and exciting schedule and an invaluable tool for networking, marketing and communication among our members and friends.   

For all of us in the insurance and reinsurance industry, we recognize the unique challenges we have faced this year with world-wide catastrophic events, including earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, hurricanes and flooding.  For many of us that live along the east coast between Virginia and Connecticut we experienced for the first time the shaking of an earthquake on August 23, 2011, but sadly this event was not in isolation as we are all well aware of the devastation in Chile, New Zealand and Japan following the earthquakes experienced in those countries earlier this year.
