APIW Annual CEO Luncheon with Keynote Speaker Nancy Bewlay 

Join APIW and Nancy Bewlay, CEO, Reinsurance AXA XL, for our annual CEO luncheon. 

Ms. Bewlay will be discussing the evolution of D&I in the (re)insurance industry. She will focus on the benefits D&I and how empathy plays an important role in promoting D&I in an organization. 

Nancy Bewlay is Chief Executive, Reinsurance at AXA XL, a division of AXA. She is also a member of AXA XL’s Leadership Team and AXA’s Partners Group. The latter is an internal advisory team whose principal role is to assist AXA Group’s Chief Executive Officer and the Management Committee in the definition and implementation of key strategic initiatives in the context of the strategic plans and to contribute to a permanent strategic dialogue throughout the Group.

In the Chief Executive, Reinsurance role, to which she was appointed in March 2022, Ms. Bewlay leads AXA XL’s Reinsurance business which, with a global footprint and a strong balance sheet, is among the world’s leading reinsurers, offering solutions that include property, casualty, and specialty reinsurance.

Ms. Bewlay has more than 30 years of industry experience and has held numerous senior roles at XL Catlin and then AXA XL.

Most recently she held the post of Global Chief Underwriting Officer responsible for AXA XL’s underwriting governance, pricing, and P&L globally.

She joined XL Catlin, now AXA XL, in 2017 as the Global Chief Underwriting Officer for Casualty. Prior to this, she served as Head of Underwriting for Casualty at Swiss Re, leading the underwriting and actuarial treaty teams in the US and Canada. Between 2011 and 2013 Ms. Bewlay was President & Chief Executive Officer of C.V. Starr & Company (California).
