This event will be held at 5151 San Felipe Street, Houston, TX - First Floor Conference Room
This session will provide elements of self-defense and safety training that are applicable to your personal and professional success. We will discuss developing a daily safety checklist that is applicable in all situations. Attendees will also learn how to apply the same safety and self-defense concepts to professional development in areas such as communications, teamwork, and leadership. Takeaways from the session include:
- Learning about personal situational awareness
- Assessing threats and dangers beforehand
- Speaking up for your safety and well-being
- Understanding levels of threat responses
- Reflecting on mindset, attitude, and practice
- Creating a daily safety checklist
All techniques will focus on releases from grabs and holds; no striking, punching or offensive movements will be taught. While the overall purpose is applying self-defense concepts for safety and professional development, the secondary goal is to help the APIW members leave with a sense of empowerment and hope. The session is taught with a tone of respect, humor & professionalism to ensure that all participants feel seen, heard and acknowledged.
